There is a spark of excitement within the digital creative community where designers are popping up left and right wanting to use their skills for the common good. Throughout the course of history, creatives have used many different platforms to bring awareness to causes. It is no surprise that web designers are embracing this movement now that the world is moving towards more digital forms of social awareness.
Herbert Simon, a brilliant sociologist and economist, once stated “Engineers are not the only professional designers. Everyone designs who divises courses of action aimed at changing existing situations into preferred ones.”
Perhaps you are a designer with interests in the creating the most good through your design. As a person with a mission, one must continually ask the question of “is our cause aiming in the direction of taking our current situation into one that encompasses growth, positive change and results”.
One must realize that the title of ‘social designer’ does not fall under the same sort of labeling such as a ‘print designer’ or a ‘web designer’. This title is much broader through experience, research and skill.
